This project follows my progress in learning Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas. By documenting my thoughts, both theoretical and performative, I hope to give those who wish to tackle any one of these brilliant works some insight into approaching their respective technical and musical challenges.
This ongoing YouTube project provides formal analyses of the classical piano repertoire. The analyses are not intended to be comprehensive, but rather are meant to give the viewer a general sense of a given work's form.
This is the companion website to William E. Caplin's "Analyzing Classical Form" (Oxford UP 2013). Although the site is less ambitious than originally planned (at least for the time being), it takes an important step in incorporating multimedia resources into the classroom experience.
